NAILED: Tell us a little bit about the Mental Illness Happy Hour podcast. What can we expect to see in the live version of the show?
PAUL GILMARTIN: Karen Kilgariff will be the guest on the live version of the show. I’ve been meaning to have her on for about a year. I’m also going to have some listeners share their fears and loves on mic. There will probably be a short portion of me panicking on stage about what to say and whether I’m being funny enough or what to say.
After the podcast, I’ll probably ruminate for about two hours over what I did wrong. Then I’ll probably head to the food truck ghetto. Sometimes I’ll try and help smuggle a sausage.
NAILED: Who or what are you looking forward to seeing during the festival?
PAUL GILMARTIN: The Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction Contest.
NAILED: What do you have coming up in the next few months?
PAUL GILMARTIN: California’s PBS is doing a documentary on Mental Illness that is airing at the end of May. They are going to include the Mental Illness Happy Hour Podcast.
NAILED: When was the last time you nailed it?
PAUL GILMARTIN: Playing hockey Tuesday night, I leveled a guy and it felt awesome. They were beating us 11 to 2 and running the score up, so I thought “Okay, I’ve got the moral go ahead to knock this guy out.” I apologized afterwards, but there was something really primal about leveling somebody that’s being a dick to you.
