NAILED: After spending so much time in comedy clubs, who still makes you laugh uncontrollably?
CHRIS FAIRBANKS: I went to an open mic recently and laughed at a bunch of people who started in the last year. I went to the Improv last week and saw Dane Cook and laughed my head off. I got to see Louis CK’s special last night. I just still love to laugh at comedians.
NAILED: Who are you looking forward to seeing during the festival?
CHRIS FAIRBANKS: Iron Comic!
NAILED: What do you have coming up in the next few months?
CHRIS FAIRBANKS: After Portland, I’m going straight to New York to do some work on World’s Dumbest. But I’ll be doing a lot of shows while I’m in town, like Whiplash over at UCB and Gotham.
NAILED: When was the last time you nailed it?
CHRIS FAIRBANKS: I hadn’t been skateboarding because of rheumatoid arthritis, but I started skating again at a skate park. Did a nice front side 5-0, which I haven’t done in a while.
I don’t ever really feel like I nailed it when I get off stage. Mostly, if I do well, I think “That’s the way it’s supposed to go.”
I nailed it for a week in New York, doing 12 gigs in 7 days.
