Artist Feature: Yadi Liu
Women are like water. They can softly nourish the land; they can be strong enough to destroy obstacles
Editor’s Note:
An illustrator's style can be intimately reflective of their personal voice, and in this case artist Yadi Liu demonstrates octaves of range uttered with soft intensity. Capturing a broad spectrum of gorgeous figures, Liu's latest collection depicts some of the vastly different forms and emotions tied to her experience of moving through the world as a woman, and all the pressure, power, and potential that comes with it.
Pastel femmes blend together in an embrace. Depictions of self pleasure and love through screens drip with color and detail. From the brightest technicolor performance of an African band, to the nearly colorless contortions of brides pressing against their veils, her illustrations emanate passionate skill.

As a visual artist, I truly believe that real art only comes from honest feelings. I have been trying to record my emotions and to explore the truth of life through art. This collection is my female perspective to explore and understand the beauty of women. In my opinion, women are like water. They can softly nourish the land; they can be strong enough to destroy obstacles and reflect a beautiful fantasy. I made that flexibility as fluid shapes, blending with stunning curves on my art. These inspirations come from different aspects, including womanhood, dreams, and relationships. These aspects have constructed a woman's self-consciousness and connection to the world.
