Artist Feature: Jon Beinart
"Small worlds, hybridized beasts, and human oddities."
From the Artist:
Jon Beinart is best known for his insectoid doll-part assemblages which he affectionately refers to as his “Toddlerpedes.” He also creates large intricate drawings with strange recurring themes such as birth, death, deformity, hybridized beasts and human oddities. As a child, Jon was lost in his imagination and preoccupied with the lives of ants, snails, spiders and mice. This fascination with small worlds continued throughout his life, often distracting him from the larger world around him. In a sense, Jon’s detailed drawings reflect his life long preoccupation with small worlds.
