Artist Feature: Erik Jones

"...tuning out the incessant noise to find something wondrous and whole."

SLIDER.jpg

See them peering through a disorder of color. Incomplete, as we all are. Distracted and consumed by thought, and taken away from the self. There is an organic nature in these figures alongside this silly artificial interference.

Exploring, discovering, and truly knowing one’s self can be a struggle. Past traumas and experiences aside, it’s difficult to separate our reflections from the world around us. We can become distracted by what we believe defines us – the music we love or once loved, the toys we played with, the clothes we choose to wear.

The true feat is breaking down these barriers, tuning out the incessant noise to find something wondrous and whole, lusting after those diversions all the while.

This is how the work of Erik Jones speaks to me, a perfect juxtaposition. A collision. Eye ribbon candy.
