Crystal Barbre is known for her sexually charged work. This series, which she calls “Magnetisme Animal,” features powerful women in the throes of passion, not as objects, but as creatures of their own volition, beings whose presence and engagement are made all the more potent by their crypto-zoological physiques. By removing human expressions from the equation, she allows the viewer to inhabit her subjects, and to experience her scenes in the absence of the social conflict and emotional turmoil so often projected onto “pornographic” images.

Crystal Barbre is an artist who currently works and lives in Seattle. She completed her studies at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle. Her work has been featured in several group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States since 2006. To learn more about this artist, visit her site: here.

Shenyah Webb

Shenyah Webb is a Portland-based visual artist and musician. She has been with NAILED Magazine since its inception in 2012 and has served as the Arts Editor and a Contributing Editor since its launch in 2013. A Detroit native, she attended The College for Creative Studies, where she focused on Fine Art and Industrial Design.
