Igor Moukhin is most recognized for his black and white photographs documenting rock musicians of the Soviet underground music scene during the Perestroika years and photo journalism tracing the waning years of Communism and the blossoming of new Russia capitalism.
We decided to feature a different side of Moukhin, a deeper look into his personal collection.

igor mukhin photo essay nailedIgor Moukhin was born in Moscow in 1961. Beginning in the 80s, Moukhin regularly held personal exhibitions of his work. His work has not only greatly artistic, but also of great documentary value. He is considered to be one of Russia’s most brilliant contemporary photographers. Most recognized for his photographs of a fading subculture, and while collections of his work sell for tens of thousands of dollars today, Moukhin has done it only for art’s sake. Shenyah Webb

Shenyah Webb is the Arts Editor and a Contributing Editor for NAILED. She is originally from Detroit; she studied Psychology at Michigan State University, and later finished in Industrial Design with an Art Therapy minor at The College of Creative Studies. She lives and works in Portland with her husband and son. She is a visual artist, and musician under the name Lithopedion. Her self-titled EP was released in 2013.
