Artist Feature: Diego Gravinese
Capturing both the mundane and bizarre, pushing the limits of realism.
Argentinian painter Diego Gravinese creates large-scale, photo-realistic oil on canvas and acrylic paintings. These hyperrealistic works are first misconceived as photographs – Candid shots, moments in everyday life, what one would post on Instagram or Flickr, capturing both the mundane and bizarre, pushing the limits of realism.
In this suite of images, you can see the different styles that Gravinese has explored. His earlier works embody a more collage-like, chaotic, pop-art style, while his newer compositions are simpler, highlighting singular scenes and images.
